Teaching Philosophy
My goal when teaching is to create an inclusive learning environment that adapts to diverse student needs. With over a decade of teaching experience, I understand that each student brings unique learning preferences and professional experiences to the classroom. I modify my teaching approach—incorporating visual aids, hands-on activities, group discussions, and independent projects—to accommodate various learning styles and ensure content accessibility for all students.
In my communications courses, I draw from my extensive business experience tailoring messages for different audiences. This real-world perspective helps students understand how theoretical concepts apply to workplace challenges. My counseling internship further enhances my ability to create a supportive classroom environment where students feel comfortable sharing ideas and taking intellectual risks.
Following Bloom's Taxonomy, I guide students through increasingly complex communication concepts. Students begin by understanding fundamental communication theories and then progress to analyzing workplace interactions and evaluating communication strategies. Through case studies and role-play, they ultimately create and implement effective communication plans for diverse business scenarios. To ensure fair assessment, I develop detailed rubrics that clearly outline performance expectations and evaluation criteria, providing students with transparent standards while eliminating subjective bias in grading.
My commitment to professional growth as an educator includes curriculum development, course writing, and continuous learning in adult education methods. This ongoing development ensures my teaching remains current and effective. I measure success by achieving the course objectives, student engagement and satisfaction. My goal is to create confident, independent learners equipped for lifelong professional growth.
